Morning all…Have you ever noticed how quickly weeds grow when left alone? You can spend hours tidying the garden, pulling them up one by one, but within days, they’re back – stronger and more stubborn than ever. The truth is that neglect invites chaos. It’s the same in our spiritual lives. If we don’t tend the soil of our hearts, weeds like resentment, worry, pride, or discouragement will creep in before we know it. That’s why Proverbs 4:23 says, “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” Just like a garden needs regular attention, so does our walk with God. It doesn’t have to be extravagant, just consistent. A moment in His Word, a whispered prayer, a worship song in the car, these are seeds sown into good soil. Don’t let the weeds take root. Guard your heart today and let the gardener of your soul cultivate something beautiful.
Morning all, sometimes we confuse being busy with being fruitful. We run from one task to the next, check off lists, respond to emails, do the shopping, and collapse into bed – exhausted but strangely unfulfilled. Jesus experienced busy too, crowds followed Him everywhere. But He never rushed. He never allowed the pace of life to steal His peace or purpose. In Mark 1:35, it says, “Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.” Before the day began, He prioritised connection with His Father. That’s the real fuel for fruitfulness. So today, take a moment before the noise begins. Find a quiet space, even for five minutes, and let God re-centre you. Peace doesn’t come from finishing your to-do list. It comes from knowing who walks with you through it all.
AS WE BEGIN TODAY, LET’S TAKE A MOMENT TO REFOCUS OUR HEARTS. IN A WORLD FULL OF COMPARISON AND CONSTANT NOISE, GOD INVITES US TO WALK IN THE FREEDOM OF OUR OWN UNIQUE JOURNEY WITH HIM. THIS DEVOTIONAL IS A REMINDER OF THAT TRUTH – AND A CALL TO RUN YOUR RACE WITH PURPOSE AND JOY.
Morning all,,, Do you ever find yourself comparing your journey to someone else’s? Maybe it’s their success, their family, their faith, or even their Instagram page. It’s surprisingly easy to fall into the trap of comparison, especially in a world where we’re constantly shown the best parts of other people’s lives. But comparison is one of the quickest ways to rob ourselves of joy, contentment, and the sense of purpose God has uniquely given us. The Bible reminds us in Galatians 6:4, “Each one should test their own actions. Then they can take pride in themselves alone, without comparing themselves to someone else.” God never called you to run someone else’s race. He crafted your path with intention. You’ve been given your own gifts, your own story, and your own timing. But the danger with comparison is that we so often measure our behind-the-scenes struggles against someone else’s polished highlight reel. But the truth is, everyone is navigating something – even when it doesn’t show. That’s why Hebrews 12:1 encourages us to “run with perseverance the race marked out for us.” Not someone else’s race. Ours. Today, pause and celebrate who you are in Christ. Thank God for where He’s brought you from and where He’s taking you. Rejoice in the small steps of progress and the quiet victories no one else sees. And when you see someone else succeed? Cheer them on, not with jealousy, but with joy. There’s room enough in God’s Kingdom for everyone to shine. Let your eyes stay fixed on your race. Heaven is watching – and cheering you on.
LIFE CAN FEEL OVERWHELMING, NOT ALWAYS BECAUSE OF A BIG PROBLEM, BUT BECUASE OF A BUILD-UP OF SMALL PRESSURES THAT QUIETLY WEIGH US DOWN. IN REVD MARK’S DEVOTIONAL, WE’RE REMINDED THROUGH DAVID’S WORDS IN PSALM 61 THAT WHEN OUR HEARTS ARE HEAVY, GOD OFFERS MORE THAN ESCAPE – HE OFFERS PERSPECTIVE.
Morning all, have you ever had one of those days where everything just feels a bit… heavy? It’s not one huge crisis – just a slow build-up of little things: the unanswered emails, the tension in a conversation, the to-do list that never seems to shrink, or the emotions you’ve quietly pushed to the side. It all begins to stack up, and before you know it, your heart feels weighed down. David knew that feeling. He wasn’t a stranger to the weight of life – carrying leadership pressures, family struggles, regrets, and fear. And yet, in Psalm 61:2, he writes: “When my heart is overwhelmed, lead me to the rock that is higher than I.” What a beautiful picture – not an escape, but an elevation. A change of perspective. Sometimes, we don’t need everything fixed – we just need to see it differently. We need a view that lifts us above the noise and confusion. That’s what God offers us: a safe, steady place where the fog of worry clears and the truth of His presence cuts through. The Rock that is higher is unshaken by our stress, undisturbed by our chaos, and unmoved by our fear. He simply invites us to come – mess and all, and be reminded that He is still in control. So, if your heart feels heavy today, don’t carry it alone. Whisper a prayer. Take a breath. Be still. Let God lift your eyes and steady your steps. You may still have the same responsibilities, but from that higher place – with Him, you’ll face them with renewed peace and strength.
